Afterschool Programming
Through a partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of Southeast Missouri, the Arts Council provides weekly visual arts and music classes at Centenary Church, Scout Hall, and Prodigy Leadership Academy. Designed to inspire creativity and self-expression, these interdisciplinary lessons introduce students to a variety of artistic skills in a fun, supportive environment. What began as a visual arts program has grown to include music, expanding opportunities for young people to explore the arts.
What Do Students Learn?
Students explore a wide variety of artistic traditions through engaging visual arts and music programming. Lessons span cultures and time periods—from the ancient world and the Renaissance to Japan, Africa, Asia, and the Americas—allowing participants to connect history with hands-on creative projects. As the program continues to grow, new themes and artistic styles provide exciting opportunities for students to discover, create, and express themselves.
