Saturday Serenades will be presented by guest performers, and will be held at the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri in Downtown Cape Girardeau on Select Saturdays. This edition of Saturday Serenades will feature the student composers of Southeast Missouri. Composition students from the studio of Dr. Robert Fruehwald at Southeast Missouri State University will showcase works written in recent semesters. Students from the university will also be performing these new works. The program will feature several musical pieces in a variety of styles and instrumentation. This concert will be a great opportunity to experience and support the next generation of music makers.

  Performer: Dr. Gabrielle Baffoni
"Manhattan on the Mississippi"

Gabrielle Baffoni is Assistant Professor of Music at Southeast Missouri State University, and serves on the board of the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri. In addition to being an active soloist and chamber music performer, she also holds the position of principal clarinet with the Paducah Symphony Orchestra in Kentucky. Dr. Baffoni has several upcoming projects at Southeast, which can be found at www.rivercampus.org.

Dr. Baffoni will present works for solo clarinet with electronics, featuring Steve Reich's iconic New York Counterpoint as well as a work by Dr. Robert Fruehwald of Southeast Missouri State University.

Christopher Wilson is an adjunct instructor at Southeast Missouri State University and the percussion instructor for the Cape Central Marching Tigers, as well as a Doctoral Candidate in Percussion Performance at the University of Northern Colorado. As a soloist Mr. Wilson has helped to introduce the marimba to public audiences in settings outside of the concert hall, including coffee shops, libraries, art galleries, assisted living centers, and more. He is a sponsored member of Pearl Drums' Regional Education Arts Program and an endorser of Encore Mallets.
