The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri invites you to the opening reception of Randy Simmon's solo exhibition, "Black & White: Recent Charcoal Drawings". This exhibition is a culmination of recent series and themes, sometimes on a larger than life scale. Included in this show are works from the "Swimming Pool" series, and the more recent "Fairy Tale" series, portraying the Brothers Grimm tales in a more adult and surrealist fashion.

Artist Statement

My work is mostly auto-biographical with much inspiration coming from my two teen age boys. I work with social/political themes, relationship themes as well as being inspired by my own childhood. My latest series of drawings have a sense of storytelling quirkiness to them that hold as much mystery and devoid of explanation.
