The 2018 Theme Has Been Announced!

This theme for the 2018 National Juried Exhibition is...

ART AND FEAR

Being afraid, sometimes seemingly irrational, is an important dimension of our emotional lives. Everyone has something that scares them. Spiders, snakes, heights. But what about ablutophobia (fear of washing or bathing), or consecotaleophobia (fear of chopsticks)? Art & Fear beckons artists across the United States to submit work that explores the concept of fear, anxiety, and phobias. Fear is a fluctuating entity, and can mean different things to different people. The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri encourages the exploration and interpretation of this idea in a way that is uniquely distinct and personal to each artist.

To complement our Regional Juried Exhibition in the winter, the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri is proud to host a yearly National Juried Exhibition during the summer. Each year, a new theme is announced and the call for artists is made public before the first week of March.

The National Juried Exhibition is on display for two months from June - July.
