Artist Statement

My process utilizes an interdisciplinary, concept-oriented approach that combines sculpture, performance, photography, and printmaking as a means to interweave both personal and political messages. My work often adopts these disciplines in a response to the societal constructs of masculinity and femininity. In practice, I explore issues found within LGBT culture, including gender identity, social status, and alienation. Often employing my own body as the subject, along with found materials, I make an attempt to expose the absurdity of binarism, and to address the role in which appearances affects the way individuals communicate and process information.
