Introduced in the year 2000, the Children’s Arts Festival was developed as a way to showcase what local arts teachers, and their students, are doing in their classrooms. The show is juried and featured artwork from children from third – eighth grade every February. Each year, we create a colorful keepsake booklet featuring the winning selections and our young artists' names to take home!

This event has grown to play a large role in arts education advocacy here in Southeast Missouri. One piece of artwork is selected for each of the represented counties to be on display in their Representative’s office for a full year! The artists selected are invited to the Capitol Building in Jefferson City on Fine Arts Education Day or Citizen's Day to meet with their Missouri State Legislators in person and to present their artwork. Additionally, we select works from the Cape Girardeau classrooms to present to our very own City Council later on in the year.
