The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri,

 Friday, Apr. 7, from 5 to 9 p.m., the Southeast Missouri Arts Council will host a reception for the 15th Annual Visual Arts Cooperative’s two-gallery show. Their exhibit will be on display through April 29. The Visual Arts Cooperative presents a multitude of artistic styles and a wide range of media including most all types of paint media, graphic art, sculpture and ceramics, fabrics, collage and mixed media, and photography/digital art. 

The annual exhibit, which displays around two full size works from each artist plus a collection of miniatures, is a chance to showcase the talents of the over 40 Visual Arts Cooperative artists. This year marks the beginning of the fifteenth year the organization has been together, working tirelessly to promote the arts in the Southeast Missouri region.

James McNew will be the features artist for April’s First Friday. James is well-known for his prisma color pencil drawings and oil paintings. He will  have his 1st acrylic painting in this show.

Gallery: Friday, April 7, from 5 to 9 p.m., Catapult Creative House will host a reception for an exhibit featuring works by the Art Faculty of Southeast Missouri State University. This exhibit will feature works from Professor Louise Bodenheimer, Instructor Emily Booth, Associate Professor Emily Denlinger, Assistant Professor Dr. Joni Hand, Professor Benjie Heu, Instructor Carol Horst, Professor Caroline Kahler, Associate Professor Justin Henry Miller, Instructor Joshua Newth, Assistant Professor Hannah March Sanders, Professor Kathy Smith, and Professor Chris Wubbena.

Student Studios: The Catapult Creative House Student Studios will hold its spring Artist of the Month exhibition, titled: Inlay. The exhibition will feature the work of Southeast Missouri State University artist ,Scott Stuhldreher. Through his ceramics Stuhldreher explores the interconnectivity between the beauty of form and function. Inspired by memories of the luminescent designs on heirloom china, Stuhldreher evokes the graceful and serpentine nature of Ming Dynasty porcelain, creating a visual path that reaffirms the all-encompassing nature of beauty.  In connection with the exhibition reception the Catapult Creative House Student Studio artists and Catapult jewelry artists are proud to present their Studio    Pop-Up Shop. This April the Pop-Up retail space will present the opportunity for visitors to purchase one of kind prints, handcrafted jewelry, wearables, as well as ceramics, and additional unique works of art created by the participating artists.

Come see the Intuitive Painting Day Retreat for Adults exhibit. The work shown will be the result of  a one day workshop for adults with or without experience.      Stop by the River Campus’s Crisp Museum and see the “Exhibiting Excellence: 39th Annual High School Art Exhibition,” an invitational juried art exhibit for 11th and 12th grade students in Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois. “High school art instructors from this region have submitted the finest original works by their students for jurying,” said Peter Nguyen, Museum director.
