The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri is proud to present the annual 2019-2020 Regional Juried Exhibition. The Regional Juried Exhibition is open to all area artists, 18 years and older living within the five state region of Missouri, Illinois, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Kentucky. Entries must be original, not previously exhibited at the Arts Council or in any Arts Council sponsored juried exhibit. Interested artists can find the prospectus below.

The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri will host an opening reception for the annual Regional Juried Exhibition on Friday, December 6, 2019 from 5 - 9 pm. The show will be on display until January 25, 2020 and feature pieces by regional artists.

The exhibition was developed to provide a forum to demonstrate the diversity of this five-state region and the artists who live here. Artists are encouraged to submit works that interpret any aspect of the Southeast Missouri region as well as its bordering states. Accepted artists represent Missouri, Illinois, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Arkansas.

Juror: April Goeke

The artwork for the 2019 Regional Juried Exhibition will be selected by April Goeke, an artist and arts educator. April Goeke is a local artist and teacher who lives in Herrin, IL. She graduated from Murray State University with a BS in Art. Later on, she completed her MFA in Painting at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. 

Her artwork has been shown in regional and national juried exhibitions including the Smithsonian in Washington DC. Her paintings have won several awards. She also has taught a variety of art classes at Shawnee Community College and Southern Illinois University at Carbondale such as Painting, Photography, Ceramics, and Drawing.

Currently, April Goeke spends most of her time creating new work, but also periodically teaches at the Hartley Art Gallery in Herrin, IL.

The Visual Arts Cooperative will also debut new works in the Visual Arts Cooperative Gallery, with an additional display of original artwork miniatures, priced below $75.
